Nespresso Talents es la más reciente iniciativa lanzada por Nespresso, compañía que se ha distinguido por inspirar momentos que perduren en la memoria, tal como sucede con una buena taza de café. Dado su alcance mundial, creó un concurso de cine para impulsar a talentos. Siguiendo las nuevas tendencias, los participantes crearon cortometrajes en formato vertical, como la pantalla de un teléfono inteligente.
El concurso celebró su segunda edición en 2017. Se recibieron 320 videos provenientes de 41 países. La ganadora del Premio Internacional Nespresso Talents fue la mexicana Mariana Azcárate Barón con su corto Bicho. Se trata de un niño pequeño que, inspirado por una antigua foto de su abuela, desea aprender a bailar ballet. Tras algunos obstáculos en el camino más ortodoxo para lograrlo, la mujer logra convencerlo de seguir su sueño. A la realizadora le inspiran las historias humanas y poco escuchadas: “Bicho está dedicado a quienes despiertan cada día con el corazón abierto”.
